Day 67
Dropped 5k feet today. Haven't been this close to sea level since Pennsylvania.
Last peak of the trip.
Mike's state is always a good indicator of my own, and let me tell you, the poor guy is falling apart. The back tire is worn clean down, I've got a broken spoke, the shifter is busted, the breaks are so loose they hardly work, and the whole contraption creaks ominously.
As a kid, I once played a puzzle video game with my dad and sister. I distinctly remember my favorite moment, where the protagonist leaps onto a train as the station explodes behind her, the train barely escaping as everything crumbles behind it. I feel a bit like that haha; everything is falling to pieces and I'm only barely gasping over the finish line.

Just 3 more days - you got this! What an amazing feat - I hope you have a long rest when you get back home. Patty
ReplyDeleteHey Isaac,
ReplyDeleteAt least get your brakes fixed.
Love,
Papa
So close Isaac! Hype/patch that Micycle up for the last few days. You two have got this!
ReplyDeleteAnd can your fans gently insist you consume nutritious food more frequently and eat twice as much as you think you need today and tomorrow and the next day.
ReplyDeleteOne nice thing about civilization is that there are bike shops! Please get the brakes adjusted/fixed, but also if you get your gears fixed you will probably enjoy the rest of the ride more. And sounds like you'd benefit from a bit of a rest :-)
ReplyDeleteIsaac - as I follow you on your adventure, I am so impressed! You have encountered everything with strength, honesty, and determination. Take care of yourself and Mike first, and be proud of how much you have accomplished! You've got this!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Isaac!!! - Terry
